Albert and Ruby (White) Edwards Endowed Scholarhship
Albert A. Edwards taught school at Lawrenceville Schools in Virginia, New Orleans, Louisiana and Gary, Indiana Public Schools. In 1933, his wife, Ruby Harrison White Edwards passed. The loss did not stop him but instead made him more dedicated to helping people. He received his Masters of Arts degree from Teacher’s College of Columbia, New York in 1934. He was a devoted member of Alpha Chi Alpha Fraternity; served three years in the Civilian Conservation Corps in WW II; was founding Executive Director of the Stuyvesant Community Center, and was involved with six social agencies and two churches in bringing positive changes to that community. Albert made a difference in this world. We are very happy to establish this scholarship in honor of this special couple.
