Dr. Alfred R. Spriggs Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2000 by colleagues and friends to honor his long service to students. Dr. Spriggs was a graduate of Dillard, Howard and Washington Universities. He served in the U.S. Army as 2nd Lt. from 1944-1946. He joined Clark College faculty in the Chemistry Department in 1955 as Chair of the Department. He continued to serve until 1992 when he relinquished his chair but remained on as a faculty member until his death in 2000. During his 44 years at CAU he trained large numbers of chemistry students, many of whom went on to obtain their doctorates, medical, and dental degrees. He was loved and respected by faculty, staff, students. friends, his wife Mozel, and their four children.
