Lucy Grigsby Endowed Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 1998 by her husband, Howard and son (Richard), CAU staff, faculty and friends in memory of Ms. Grisby (AU ’41), who was the first student of Atlanta University offered a position upon graduation. Ms. Grigsby gave 58 years of service to CAU, serving as a Faculty Member, Professor and Department Head of the English Department and later as the University Editor. She received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1987 for her outstanding support of the Alumni Association. She was woman of keen intellect, sound scholarship, impeccable character, warmth and compassion and was totally dedicated to her students and profession.
