Marilyn Renee Carnegie Endowed Memorial Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established on February 23, 2003 by Mr. David Carnegie, Jr., in memory of his wife Marilyn Renee Carnegie. Mrs. Carnegie passed away on December 23 , 2003. Marilyn Carnegie matriculated at Clark College from, 1979 to 1983. While at Clark she was the embodiment of the well-rounded student, achieving excellence in and beyond the classroom. Marilyn came from humble beginnings in Macon, Georgia, but worked very hard to achieve success in every facet of life.
Mrs. Carnegie, a Business Administration/Accounting major, graduated Summa Cum Laude/Salutatorian with a 3.8 grade point average, the highest GPA in her major and second highest overall major. She was also the recipient of several scholarships, including the Chase Manhattan Bank Fellowship. Her professional career began at KPMG Main Hurdiman-CPAs (Atlanta GA) in 1983 as an auditor. Mrs. Carnegie advanced to Senior Auditor prior to leaving the company. She joined Comerica Incorporated (Detroit, MI) as an audit specialist in 1986 – 1988.
Upon graduation from Clark Atlanta University’s MBA program, Carnegie began her career with Hewlett Packard Company (Atlanta, GA & Novi, MI), which spanned 10 years. Mrs. Carnegie excelled at HP, starting out as a financial analyst in 1993 to senior financial analyst to Global Consulting Manager.
Upon establishing the Scholarship, Mr. Carnegie said “my wife and mother of our boys-David and Brandon, did not seek no cherish achievements. She desired to have a good heart, to raise a loving and caring family, and to treat others with dignity and respect.”
