W. Earle Wilson, Jr. Endowed Award

W. Earle Wilson, Jr. Endowed Award

This award was established in 1993 by the Wilson family in memory of their husband and father, W. Earle Wilson, Jr. who was a Track and Football Coach at CAU until his untimely death in August 1992. Earle Wilson attended Clark College in the late fifties. Throughout his association with the University, his primary concern was the student athletes he came in contact with on a daily basis. He dedicated his life to young men and women at CAU who were participating in football and track. His teaching and philosophies extended beyond CAU, as he embraced youth throughout Atlanta, constantly preaching discipline, organization, and how to focus on one’s goals. Coach Earle, as he was affectionately called, believed that hard work, coupled with persistence was essential to achieving one’s goals. Excuses were not acceptable to Earle. He believed that one’s faith and belief in God would overcome any obstacle.
